How to Get More Mileage Out of Your Content

Let’s be real, creating good content takes time, brainpower, and, at least for us, a little caffeine. So why are you pouring all that effort into a single post and then letting it collect digital dust? It’s time to work smarter, not harder, because your content deserves a second (and third and fourth) life.
Here’s our official challenge to you: Squeeze every last drop out of that content! When you repurpose your content like a pro, you won’t be stuck reinventing the wheel every. single. time.
🍋 Start with One Strong Core Piece
Your starting piece should have lots of juice in it to squeeze, and a blog is usually a great start. Let’s take this very blog as an example (how meta of us, right?).
This blog now becomes your content lemon. Everything else? Lemon juice, lemon slices, lemonade, etc.
📧 Repurpose #1: Send as an Email
Email is such a powerful tool when you have the right audience. Don’t miss this step to engage with people who have chosen to hear from you.
- Use the blog as the main feature of your next email (raise your hand if you’re reading this blog because we emailed it to you 🤭)
- Include a short and catchy intro: “We see it all the time: businesses pouring time and energy into blogs, emails, and posts—only to hit publish once and never touch it again. 😭” (bonus points for using an emoji in your subject line)
- Break down the blog into 2–3 key takeaways. Then, when they’re hooked and want to read more, cut off that content and link to the full blog for more clicks to your site.
Bonus Points: Add a personal touch or anecdote to humanize it. (See our email)
📱 Repurpose #2: Post on Social
Now the fun really begins. There are so many ways to slice this lemon. Here’s a few ideas:
🔁 Carousel Post (Great for Engagement)
Instagram and LinkedIn both love a good swipe-through moment. If a single image is all you have time for, that’s okay, but keep in mind that carousel posts are proven to have higher engagement and engagement rates.
See our example here: Instagram Facebook LinkedIn
🎥 Short-form Video (Great for Reach)
Pick 1–2 tips and record a casual, talking-head-style video.
- Keep it under 60 seconds.
- Add captions. Always captions. No for real: captions.
- Open with a hook like: “You don’t need more content. You just need to use your content better.”
(pssst our video wil be posted on May 12)
Why it works: We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it a million more times: Video content is Queen 👑Social platforms tend to give short-form videos a bigger reach which means more eyeballs, more consideration, and more opportunities for your brand to show its human side.
✨ Extra Credit ✨
Okay, now that all the overachievers are listening, don’t stop at one post! You can turn different sections or quotes from your blog into multiple social posts. We double-dog dare you right now to go check out your last blog and pull 3 ideas from it that can be repurposed on social media.
