Our Favorite Thanksgiving Sides

As great as turkey is, all of us at Yellow Lime tend to favor all those dreamy sides! From green bean casserole to sweet potatoes to those golden mashed potatoes—okay, is anyone else drooling?

To get in the Thanksgiving spirit this week we wanted to share one recipe each to give you some inspiration! Let us know if you try any of these by tagging us on social.

Cranberry Relish

From the kitchen of Alex Tillard, Creative Director

What’s better on turkey than cranberry sauce? That’s right! Homemade cranberry relish.

Ingredients

3 cups fresh cranberries

1 orange

1/2 cup - 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  1. Rinse cranberries and pat dry.
  2. Wash orange and cut into quarters (don't peel!)
  3. Add cranberries, orange and half the sugar in a food processor and blend.
  4. Taste for sweetness, add more sugar if needed, and blend again.
  5. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use (the longer this sits, the better it tastes!! Make it at least the day before if possible).
  6. Serve cold or at room temperature.

Terry Crews' Mac and Jeezy

From the kitchen of Sang Kim, Tech Director

A single dose of this cheesy comfort food is never enough, so I usually double this recipe. Dig in!

Ingredients:

8 oz elbow macaroni, 1 package

2 cups cream-style cottage cheese, or small curd

2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

8 oz sour cream, 1 carton

1 egg, lightly beaten

1 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon coconut oil

paprika, to garnish

2 oz Panko (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni “al dente” according to package directions. Drain with cold water.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).
  3. In a bowl, combine cottage cheese, cheese, sour cream, egg, and salt. Fold in macaroni.
  4. Grease a 2-quart (2 liters) casserole dish with coconut oil.
  5. Spoon mixture into casserole dish and sprinkle with extra cheese and paprika (Panko between cheese and paprika optional).
  6. Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. Enjoy!

Puppy Chow

From the kitchen of Jessica Berens, Project Director

Choosing one side was too hard for me, so I went with my favorite pre-turkey snack that doubles as a dessert.

Ingredients

9 cups of Chex squares

1/2 cup creamy peanut butter

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1 1/2 cups of powdered sugar

+ Bonus ingredients if you so choose: M&Ms and twist pretzels

Instructions

  1. Get yourself a large mixing bowl (must have a lid) and add Chex squares. Set aside.
  2. Combine peanut butter and chocolate chips in a small saucepan and heat on low to medium heat, stirring as needed to evenly melt.
  3. Remove the peanut butter chocolate mixture from heat and pour over Chex squares while still warm.
  4. Place the lid on and shake, shake, shake until the peanut butter chocolate mixture is evenly covering the Chex squares.
  5. Once thoroughly mixed, add powdered sugar, close lid, and shake again!
  6. Taste test immediately and share with your friends if you can.

Want to make your puppy chow even more fun? Add in other treats! Some of my favorites? M&Ms and twist pretzels.

Psst... Hey!
